“Rehabilitation offers the ability to be involved in unique and meaningful engagement with every client – each has their own story. In my youth, I shadowed an occupational therapist to gather a better understanding of the profession. I could see the beneficial effect on clients and their lives and so it began! I find that genuinely listening, using eye contact and non- verbal communication encourages openness, trust, and helps foster an honest rapport that allows me to connect deeper with my clients. It results in their full story, leading to a realistic and defensible report.
On a personal note, I’d love to travel to Australia and New Zealand. This includes seeing the Whitsunday Islands in north Queensland and the Great Barrier Reef. The idea of being anywhere in nature, such as in forests, the ocean, on hiking trails and beaches, is important to me!”
